I’ve finally begun work on the Blood & Chartreuse album. The ideas have been piling up, but it was all set aside as I worked on the novel. Now that things are shaping up with the writing, I’ve decided it’s time to get the album nailed down, as well. I’d like to have it completed and ready to go by the time the novel is published (hopefully later this year).
The image I included as part of the headline is rather misleading, but it fits in with the popular imagery of vampirism. Of course, the woman in the image could have just finished off her sister. So except for the obvious blood spattered content, it could mean anything. But isn’t the sort of the point? My vampires are nothing like the popular conception of the genre. So nothing else will follow. And neither will the music be the throbbing Rock soundtrack that you’ve come to expect.
If asked what category this album will fit into, I would be hard pressed to tell you. It has elements of Progressive Rock, but there are also Classical touches, and a good bit of it could be danced to. For my part, I consider this album to be very much in the spirit of experimentation. So while I won’t be using a lot of atonal scales, I’d very much like to think of the music as Experimental.
You’ll see what I mean. I’ll be posting samples soon. The first track is almost finished, and will be online shortly. More will follow.
