I’ve been donating my old guitar and bass strings to Victoria’s Floozees Doozees company, with which she’s been making the most amazing candle rings. She calls this series “Musical Illuminations”, and I’m quite excited about it. The gist of it is that each candle ring is made from one or more strings which have come from instruments that have been played. These are no store-bought guitar and bass strings right out of the pack. Music has been made with these strings. That’s the point. And that’s why they’re called “Musical Illuminations”.
If you don’t know what a candle ring is, just visit the link to Floozees Doozees’ eBay and check out the selection. If you’re anything like me, you’ll be amazed by the concept.
Victoria is also thinking about branching the idea out into jewelry made with guitar and bass strings, and soliciting old strings from famous and semi-famous musicians, with the intent of donating a portion of the all profits to the VH1’s Save The Music foundation. More on that later.
