Rendering Dude

I’ve been rendering a full color version of the mascot I’m working on for my brother’s business, DJ Pro Audio. It’s a take-off on the existing logo that’s already on the store web site. So far it’s going pretty good, but I’m not even sure my brother likes it, which is kinda frustrating. The general idea is that we’ll use “Dude” (as I call him, for lack of an actual name) as a presence on the store, to make comments on particular products and generally be an identifiable persona for the business.
I’m getting used to using my graphics tablet. I’ve had it for awhile, but I’ve really done nothing with it. So there’s a bit of a learning curve. Not much of one. I mean, once you adjust to the general idea, it’s almost as natural as using a pencil. It’s immediately much easier than trying to draw with a mouse. Which is a “duh” factor, I suppose. But if you’ve ever tried to draw a straight line with a mouse, you’ll know what I mean.
One problem I’m having is that I’m not sure what to do with the tablet itself just yet. My natural tendency is to hold it supported like I would a drawing pad, but I’m not curled up on the couch with a pad, I’m sitting in an office chair, sort of suspending the tablet on my left hand. That’s incredibly fatiguing. I’ll adjust and work out the best way to do it. Sooner or later.
Right now I’m just taking a break. I’m hoping I can come up with something that my brother will like. So far I don’t think he feels like he’s getting his money’s worth. I aim to prove him wrong in that regard. Making a cool mascot will be a step in the right direction, I think.
