This was one of my other great experiments from the late 1980’s. This one was entirely improvised, recorded sometime in early 1989. The inspiration came from an event in a book I’ve tinkering on since I was in the 8th grade. Suffice it to say that in the book Anduan is the capital city of a great nation, which falls to the enemy. The image I chose to accompany this song strikes a chord in me, as one of the most enduring images that’s been stuck in my head through the years is that of a queen looking back over her burning city as she’s being evacuated.
Everything you hear on the recording, with the exception of the bass (which was my Alembic Spoiler), came from a Korg M1. The song was recorded in early 1989 on a cassette 4-track and mastered onto a cassette. The recording which is posted here resulted from the original tape being re-mixed and re-mastered on October 21, 2009.
