Windhaven just made the first major step toward recording its debut album, When The Winds Blow. That great leap came in the form of a new song, titled “Ten Feet Tall”. The song is based upon an ancient riff of mine (originally a bass line) that popped into my head while I was working on another song, and brought along with it some lyrics and a drum pattern. I dropped everything and turned to this unexpected new song. A few weeks later, we posted “Ten Feet Tall” on Windhaven’s web site.
That new song is going to be the lead-off for the CD. We already have a number of other in the works, and we’re both excited about recording this CD. For me, it’s the evolution of a life-long dream. Whatever issues I might have with my lack of technical knowledge (I can get the mixes right, but never like the masters), it is what it is, and we’re going to put together a CD. As much as I’d like to think we’re headed for Grammy territory, the reality is that we’re just looking for a way to market Windhaven and get out there into the clubs so we can try to make a living at this (I, for one, don’t have an alternative).
I’ve written about “Ten Feet Tall” lately. If you want to visit those pages, you can find them at;

We’re hoping to have the full CD recorded and available by January, 2011. Whether we pull that off remains to be seen, but at the very least there’s going to be a lot of great music recorded between now and then. Stay tuned.
